She continued her piano studies privately under Professor Ian Curror of The Royal College of Music and Capelmeister of Royal Hospital Chelsea. In the 1980s Claire sang in the semi-chorus of the London Philharmonic Choir, performing under conductors such as the late Sir George Solti. Claire has taught at Marlborough College Summer School.

From 1981 to 2001, and prior to embarking on a full time musical career, Claire worked in London at Bain & Company, Monitor Company, Credit Suisse First Boston & Deutsche Bank, and was a City Fund Raiser for the medical emergency relief charity, MERLIN.
