WETHERBY GENERAL MUSICIANSHIP CLUB 2019
We are delighted to work in support of the busy and successful Music Department at Wetherby Prep, headed up by Director of Music, Mr Nathaniel Brawn, BMus (Hons), MISM.
Syllabus – Theory, Practical Musicianship & Aural Development
Using a combination of the acclaimed series of Chelsea Quavers’ Music Puzzles©, CHENGA!© the ABRSM Theory syllabus, and the Aural & Sight Reading elements of the ABRSM Practical syllabus, pupils learn to read, write, transcribe, perform and compose music in a fun and engaging way. The art of sight reading is an important part of developing fully-rounded musicians, and this is taught using a combination of approaches including the Chelsea Quavers’ Sight Reading Programme©; of particular importance to those boys in the Chamber Choir. What pupils learn will greatly enhance their understanding of and appreciation for music as a whole. Each pupil progresses at his individual pace.
ABRSM Exams Accreditation | Qualifications
Pupils are prepared to sit ABRSM Theory Exams up to Grade 5 and beyond if required. ABRSM graded music exams (Theory & Practical) are accredited by Ofqual in the UK and are part of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). Practical and Theory exams at Grades 6–8 also attract points towards university entrance in the UK. Click here for more information.
Small Tutor Groups
Small Tutor Groups of an average of up to six pupils to one Tutor provide for a healthy balance of 1:1 tuition and group interaction.
